Helpful resource, minor issues

I purchased an individual subscription to Symptom Media for their DSM-5-TR Guided Films. The clinical simulations are quite good and detailed, very helpful for understanding diagnostic criteria. Access was instant after payment, which I appreciated. However, I found some of the navigation a bit clunky when trying to filter specific topics, it took a few clicks to get where I wanted. Overall, it's a solid resource for mental health education, but the user interface could use a small improvement for smoother browsing. Value for money was decent for the amount of content.

Good videos for training

I bought access to the Psychiatric Assessment Videos. The content was really useful for my training. Easy to navigate the library. Got immediate access which was great. No problems at all with the purchase.

I'd suggest picking one of the DSM-5-TR Guided Films that's relevant to your caseload. More specific.

Trying to decide between the PTSD Clinical Cases and Suicide Assessment Training. Thoughts?

S SmitaReddy 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Suicide Assessment Training is crucial for everyone, especially if you're early career. PTSD cases are great but assessment is non-negotiable.

Looking for something on cultural competency. Any recommendations from Symptom Media?

S SameerKhan 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
They have a 'Cultural Competency in Mental Health' module. Haven't used it personally but heard good things.

Is it CE eligible?

R RinaDas 1 month ago
I think some of the general case studies touch on cultural aspects too, not just the dedicated module.

Is the Mental Health Simulation Library worth the full subscription price or should I just get individual courses?

K KiranPillai 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
If you're going to use it regularly for teaching or even just for your own learning, the library is way better value. New content gets added all the time.

How do the Pediatric Mental Health Videos compare to Geriatric Psychiatry Simulations?

V VivekJoshi 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Both are solid, depends on your population. I work with older adults so geriatric was my go-to.

I found the pediatric ones incredibly helpful for understanding different developmental stages. Geriatric is good too, but the pediatric ones felt more unique to me.

Which simulation is better for understanding Bipolar Disorder vs. Schizophrenia?

A AshokKumar 1 month ago ✓ Best Answer
Honestly, both are solid. Just pick whichever condition you feel less confident about.

The Bipolar Disorder Case Studies are very nuanced. Schizophrenia Simulation Videos are also good but I felt the bipolar ones were more complex in their presentation.

R RohanMalhotra 1 month ago
Interesting, I was leaning towards schizophrenia first.
